Kendal A Play in National Interleague KO Finals in Great Yarmouth

Kendal A made the long trip to Great Yarmouth last weekend to represent the KDPL and Cumbria in the National Interleague KO Finals, the first major EPA competition since pre-Covid.

The team drew their first match 9-9 in the round robin stage against a team from Notts & District. The result was disappointing as the team was 9-4 up at one stage before the wheels fell off.

Needing to win their second match again a strong Mermaid A side from Portsmouth, who reached the ¼ finals pre-Covid, a strong showing saw Kendal A edge the first section to lead 5-4. With a mixture of good play and balls running for Mermaid the tie ran away from Kendal in the second session to lose 9-6 and exit from the competition.

Thursday saw six Kendal A players enter the English National Amateur Singles competition with Andrew Armitstead, Adrian Procter and Shaun O’Sullivan fighting through to the second day of competition on Friday before exiting.

Some strong performances but Kendal’s Man of the Weekend should go to Andrew Armitstead who won 4 out of 4. A very creditable performance in a National finals.
